I've been foraying into the realm of digital painting and naturally have chosen horses as a favourite subject. This little foal is painted from a photo I took of a Hanoverian mare and her filly galloping in their paddock. I haven't yet painted the mare but plan to do works in various media of both mare and foal together. Such lovely bone structure and muscle definition in a foal...it made it wonderful to capture, a frozen moment in this filly's life. I just found out this t-shirt sold - to Canadian customer - from my Zazzle site. This design, of a young girl crouching down, hand extended toward a young foal who reaches tentatively forward, is an adaptation of a charcoal drawing I did from a photograph I took one day. This young girl had such fun with this foal, it was a lovely meeting of hands, minds and hearts. I named it "First Love" because the drawing seems to encompass that moment when a young girl discovers her true love: horses!
